PAW Alliance (Piedmont Animal Welfare Alliance) is an animal welfare/social justice organization whose mission is to make our community one where all pets and people have safe and loving homes. We dream of a world where no person or animal will be thrown away.

We have two programs. A New Leash on Life is a prison dog-training program, in partnership with the N.C. Dept of Adult Correction, that pairs shelter dogs in need of training to be adopted with qualifying inmates at a men’s prison. After ten weeks of training, the dogs are adopted into loving homes.

A New Start in Life works to make our community a place where domestic abuse survivors and their pets both have safe shelter. We assist domestic violence survivors and their pets, in alliance with Family Services, Forsyth, by providing foster care for pets while survivors are in the domestic violence shelter. For more information visit

Humane Solution Spay-Neuter Program is a volunteer-led, 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1999 in Forsyth County to address the critical need for a low-cost spay-neuter program. Humane Solution provides reduced-cost vouchers for spay-neuter surgeries and wraparound services like a TNVR voucher program for feral cats that includes spay-neuter surgery, vaccines, trap loan, ear tip, and support, as well as drive-through low-cost vaccine clinics, and educational outreach.

Humane Solution Spay-Neuter Program aspires to create a community where the perpetual cycle of pet reproduction no longer leads to unwanted litters, every pet has a loving home, and their primary veterinary services are provided regardless of their guardian's income.

Stepping Stones Canine Rescue is a charitable and educational non-profit corporation, located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Our volunteers share an enthusiasm for dogs and support a mission to rescue, protect, provide sanctuary and ultimately find adoptive families for abandoned, stray and neglected dogs.

All of our dogs are housed in foster homes where they are provided with an enormous amount of love and any medical attention needed to insure their best health before adoption. All dogs are evaluated for temperament and personality, helping us to place them in homes that are well suited to their needs and to the needs of their future family.
